Morons on line, lies on tap

I have to share this comment, posted anonymously (how brave!) by some reactionary asswipe with an axe to grind and clue zero. Of some people, it's said they know nothing, this guy suspects nothing:

Actually, Tim McVey's brother in law was yosef padilla - a name which should sound familiar to you, since that family has long been known to be involved in terrorism. This wasn't a "christian white boy" acting - it was in fact muslims taking advantage of an ignorant christian white boy.

Okay, and Pat Robertson's father was Adolph Hitler, Hilliary Clinton killed Vince Foster and Fox News is fair and balanced.

This comment by A peaked my curiosity enough to google a little, and it makes me think of a number of rabbit trails, but there will be a main point a little bit later.

One rabbit trail is the rabbit trail itself...it is amazing how much (or at elast, how many words) one can find on any subject...the internet is an incredible resource...but in which one can find erroneous pablum to bolster any lie, or, if managed correctly, allow pretty good investigation quickly on any given subject.

The next rabbit trail is the one that A seems to have found...with all sorts of mis information, including Brother-in-law status for Padilla. His sister apparently lived near Padilla, but I can't find that they were married...BUT... Terry Lynn Nichol's [another rabbit trail: misfits wiht three names] first wife's maiden name was Padilla (apparently no relation) It appears these names were mixed up accidently on purpose, and thus an urban legend is born. (hatched?)

OK...tons more rabbit trails as I read conspiracy theory sites including the one that said that JFK's body on life support was on the 13th floor of the Murrah building ...

BUT the really interesting POINT, and possibly in line with previous rants is the very actual, and understandable connection between the muslim extremists terrorists and the Christian extremeists terrorists. McVeigh's and Nichol's connections with the white supremicists who give Christianity a black eye is well established. And the step from these angry anti government religiously motivated misfits is a small one to reach their brothers of the Muslim persuasion...not Muslims in general, but angry anti government religiously motivated misfits who hide behind the K'uran like these others hid behind the bible.

One article actually asked why main stream Christian leaders in the U.S. didn't speak out more against these extremeists. Reminded me of that same question to the Muslim Clergy at large.

Thene there is this insane hatred of the Jews.

Makes this Christian boy have a little more empathy to his Muslim brothers who are no more like the Trade center killers than I am like Timothy McVeigh.

All that to say the leading adherents of both religions probably ought to work harder at cleaning their own houses, rather than cite corruption and extremism in someone else's. Ought to go back to the words of their respective "founders" and see again what they really were saying...nary a bombed building in any of their commands!

This then leads me down one more Rabbit trail if your graces will indulge me: Tony Campolo ( still a bit not trusted by the Christian Right due to his friendship with Satan...er..Bill Clinton and still my favorite voice of Chrsitianity of any note) has started stumping for a category called "Red Letter Christians" who are ostensibly not controlled by political parties etc. It caught my attention, because when i decided to try to live Chrsitianity, I decided to work only with the Red Letters: the Words of Jesus in some editions are indicated so. When I had been trying to figure things out as a kid, i had decided to treat the red lettered words like one would the color red: danger, stop, keep away. That's because as I tried to reconcile the bible to the church I saw, the only way I could was to keep away from the red letters.
