Crucifying Obama

Well, the Republicans have finally found a way to go after Obama in a high tech lynching without having to actually use the word "nigger". The Reverend Jeremiah Wright does it for them. They have to be LOVING this.

The bigger problem is that I don't see what's wrong with what he said. Is America now or has it ever been racist? Hell yes. Did we use a nuclear bomb on two cities full of civilians without a second thought? Hell yes. Has Hilliary Clinton ever been called "nigger"? Hell no. As a black man, could Obama get shot just going to the gas station? Hell yes.

They just love being able to gin this crap up, and label telling truth to power as somehow anti-American. We stopped importing slaves to this country from Africa almost 200 years ago, so some of the longest standing Americans would be African-Americans. How can an American be anti-American? It makes no sense. All the Irish and Italians and Asians who got here less than 200 years ago are newcomers compared to the Reverend and his folk, so shut up and listen to some people whose forebears had it WAY worse than yours, and are still pissed about it.

Anti-American to oppose bad policies of the United States? I present the Republicans during the Clinton presidency as exhibit one for the Right Wing being as anti-American as anyone in history.

well said to the point that this needs wider circulation than me and Carla.

Didn't John Dean keep harping on two Americas? Wasn't he delicately saying what Bro Jeremiah is so eliquently elicidating?

I keep having to go back to the bible, but...JEREMIAH WAS A PROPHET OF DOOM AND GLOOM and made a lot of people angry...EVEN THOUGH HE WAS [W]RIGHT.

A great line form another prophet's story ios this:

1Ki 18:17 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, "Is it you, you troubler of Israel?"
1Ki 18:18 And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father's house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the LORD and followed the Halliburtons.

I happen to agree a lot with what the preacher Jeremiah was saying, our gov't is bunk.

I feel Obama will never be elected cause America is still very racist.

Damn.

Lat night we had fox news on just to hear what they were saying, and it makes me so upset. Just sad really, that they claim themselves to be truth sayers, and smug Bill O'Reilly. What is wrong with that man!?

Yeah, what's so unamerican about saying there is a problem?

Guess what........THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!

Yeah, but we all know this don't we.

You're right. Whites have never done anything to help the black community. Unless you count welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits, poverty programs, and the charitable efforts of individuals all over America that have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

Anonymous;

The fact that you have chalked this list up to "Whites" when those programs and welfare was given by the U.S. government pretty much establishes where you are coming from. Help me:

Which of these programs is exclusively given BY WHITES?

Which one of these programs is given exclusively TO BLACKS?

How would you suggest we rectify the divisions in our society? I for one think that this has brought a lot of racist attitudes out in the open, and is probably healthy for the sick society we live in...the first step towards a solution must be a recognition of the problem. Even if Wright was not right in all of his facts, he has said what has been being preached in African American churches for decades...and only now are non-African American ears hearing them.

Looks like at least one member of the crucifixion squad didn't get the memo.

when did the press get so involved in politics?
they really are doing a disservice getting involved with their commentaries and analyzing
it would be nice if we could just hear what the candidates have to say and that was it.
it is sad that this country isn't ready to really deal with real issues and just take a minute to listen to what obama was saying
really sad

Thanks for the link, STS. Seeing that discussion on Fox helps to remember there is not a complete distinction based on ethnicity regarding the issues. Which I think was Obama's point.

Sadly, people like Anonymous who apparently get their opinions here:

http://buchanan.org/blog/?p=969

continue to be part of the problem, and not the solution.

To all the normal white folks out there...you have to remember who started what. And then wonder who ought to start the healing. There is a book I heard of, called "the white man's burden" The synopsis I understood was that [we] whites try to fix other cultures, but don't ask or listen. We just throw lots of money. Money brings out all the wrong kinds of "leaders" and no one says no to money, even those with altruistic intentions. This in part explains why Africa, and the rest of the third world show no marked improvement in the quality of life after 40 years and trillions of $ as Buchanan pointed out.

Just so you know where "unashamedly Black..." churches got started

Dang someday i will learn how to link.

It was an article by Colbert King responding, quite politely to Buchanan's hate speech clothed in self righteous egocentricity, in the Washington post Op-ed section today

Steve, if you have MS Word, use INSERT > HYPERLINK, and that should work. I actually use the HTML text editor right in blogger.
